"Сину Тимотею, вірне слово - і гідне повного довір'я, що Христос Ісус прийшов у світ, щоб спасти грішних, з яких я - перший. Але я був на те помилуваний, щоб Ісус Христос на мені першім показав усю свою довготерпеливість, на приклад тим, що мають увірувати в Нього на життя вічне. Цареві ж віків, безсмертному, невидимому, єдиному Богу честь і слава на віки вічні. Амінь."

A reading from the 1st letter of Saint Paul to Timothy:
My son Timothy, this saying is trustworthy and deserves full acceptance: Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. Of these I am the foremost. But for that reason I was mercifully treated, so that in me, as the foremost, Christ Jesus might display all his patience as an example for those who would come to believe in him for everlasting life. To the king of ages, incorruptible, invisible, the only God, honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. (1 Tim. 1, 15-17)

У тог час, як наближався Ісус до Єрихона, якийсь сліпий сидів при дорозі й жебрав. Почувши юрбу, яка проходила, він запитав, що це таке. Йому відказали, що проходить Ісус Назарянин. І він закричав, гукаючи: Ісусе, сину Давидів, помилуй мене! А ті, які йшли попереду, погрожували йому, щоби замовк, та він ще дужче кричав: Сину Давидів, помилуй мене! Спинившись, Ісус наказав привести його до Себе. Коли він наблизився, запитав його: Що ти хочеш, щоб Я для тебе зробив? Він же сказав: Господи, щоб я знову бачив! Ісус сказав йому: Прозрій, твоя віра спасла тебе! І він враз почав бачити і пішов за Ним, прославляючи Бога. А весь народ, побачивши це, віддав хвалу Богові.

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Saint Luke:
At that time, as Jesus approached Jericho a blind man was sitting by the roadside begging, and hearing a crowd going by, he inquired what was happening. They told him, "Jesus of Nazareth is passing by." He shouted, "Jesus, Son of David, have pity on me!" The people walking in front rebuked him, telling him to be silent, but he kept calling out all the more, "Son of David, have pity on me!" Then Jesus stopped and ordered that he be brought to him; and when he came near, Jesus asked him, "What do you want me to do for you?" He replied, "Lord, please let me see." Jesus told him, "Have sight; your faith has saved you." He immediately received his sight and followed him, giving glory to God. When they saw this, all the people gave praise to God. (Lk. 18, 35-43)

Обрізання (Найменування) Господнє Для нас, християн, які відзначаємо цикл свят за старим календарним стилем новий рік настає не 1 січня, а 14 січня. Саме у цей день святкуємо празники Обрізання Господнього і св. Василія Великого. Після Собору в Єрусалимі 50 року по Христі обрізання не є необхідною практикою. Християни, прислухаючись до слів св. апостола Павла, завжди наголошували на духовному вимірі обрізання, т. зв. обрізанні серця, яке втілюється у зрості в чеснотах і прямуванні до святості. Цього ми повинні взаємно один одному бажати у Новому році. Святий Василій Великий Святий Василій Великий народився 329 року в багатодітній християнській сім'ї в місті Кесарії Каппадокійській у Малій Азії. Під впливом старшої сестри Макрини він відрікся блискучої кар'єри і розпочав суворе монаше життя. Згодом він уклав дві збірки ""55 Коротших правил"" і ""313 Ширших правил"", які до сьогодні є джерелом правил чернечого життя усього християнського Сходу. Василій заснував декілька монастирів, поблизу яких завжди знаходили притулок тисячі убогих і знедолених. Згодом це діло милосердя назвали ""Василіядою"". Ставши архиєпископом Каппадокії, Василій рішуче боровся проти різних єресей і залишив нам у спадщину чимало догматичних і аскетичних творів, гомілій та листів. Василій Великий написав св. Літургію, яку до сьогодні відправляють 10 разів на рік. Помер Василій після важкої недуги смертю праведника 379 року.

St. Basil the Great wrote a Holy Liturgy, which we celebrate 10 times a year. Basil died after a serious illness in the year 379.
