The Carmelite Sisters would like to thank the parishioner ladies who donated the food for our traditional Ukrainian Christmas dinner that we have been making for them for the past 48 years. The following ladies donated: Stefa B. - borscht and pyrohy, Marija B. - holubchi, Vera Z. - mushroom gravy, Halene M. - kompot, Irene S. - honey cakes, Nora M. - sweet bread, Romana H. - cookies, Olga B. – cookies, Nadia F. - cream puffs, Vera S. – cake. Thank you for your generosity.

A special EXTRA THANK YOU to Taras J. who came to turn off the main city water valve when the sprinkler pipe broke. Sometime between Sat afternoon and 8AM Sunday the water pipe broke. Water was flooding down the sidewalk and on to the street. Taras was able to turn off the water and called in a plumber to fix this on an emergency basis. This is a good example why we need a Building Fund drive to support unexpected repairs.

2 послання ап. Павла до Тимотея 3, 10-15

"Сину Тимотею, ти послідував моїй науці, моїй поведінці, моїй настанові, вірі, довготерпеливості, любові, постійності, у переслідуваннях, стражданнях, які були спіткали мене в Антіохії, в Іконії та Лістрі. Яких то переслідувань я не переніс на собі! А від усіх визволив мене Господь. Та й усі, що хочуть побожно жити у Христі Ісусі, будуть переслідувані. А лихі люди й дурисвіти дійдуть до гіршого, зводячи інших, і самих себе. Ти ж тримайся того, чого навчився і в чому переконався. Знаєш бо, від кого ти навчився і вже змалку знаєш Святе Письмо, яке вірою у Христа може дати тобі мудрість на спасіння."

Lesson from the Second Epistle of Saint Paul to Timothy – c. 3, v. 10–15

Timothy, my child, you have followed my teaching, my guidance, my purpose, my faith, my endurance, my love, my patience, my persecutions, and my sufferings. You know what happened to me in Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra, and what persecutions I underwent in these cities. But the Lord rescued me from all of them.
Indeed, all those, who want to live piously in Jesus Christ, will be persecuted, while wicked men and impostors will go on from bad to worse, deceiving others and deceiv­ing themselves. But you must hold fast to the doctrines you have been taught and have firmly believed. You know who taught them to you. Moreover, from childhood you have been acquainted with the Holy Scriptures, which show you the way to salvation through faith in Jesus Christ.

"Сказав Господь притчу оцю: Два чоловіки увійшли в церкву помолитися, один фарисей, а другий — митар. Фарисей, ставши, так про себе молився: Боже хвалу Тобі воздаю, що я не є, як інші люди: грабіжники, неправедні, прелюбодії, або як оцей митар. Пощу два рази на тиждень, десятину даю з усього, що придбаю. А митар, стоячи здалека, не смів і очей звести на небо, але бив себе в груди, кажучи: Боже, милостивий будь мені грішному! Кажу вам, що зійшов цей оправданий в дім свій більше тамтого. Бо всякий, хто вивищує себе, буде присмирений, хто ж смиряє себе, буде вивищений."

A Reading From The Holy Gospel According To Saint Luke: The Lord told this parable:
"Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, 'O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity--greedy, dishonest, adulterous--or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.' But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, 'O God, be merciful to me a sinner.' I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for everyone who exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted." (Lk. 18,10-14)
